Infant Receives Negligent Care and a Missed Diagnosis at ED

On the morning of October 31, 2019, concerned parents, Mustapha and Hanane, brought their 10-month-old son to the emergency room at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. For a few days, their baby had been vomiting, irritable, and showed sudden weight loss. Saint Mary’s emergency medical staff examined the infant and discharged the family less than three hours later with the diagnosis of viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu) and dehydration. Motor Vehicle Negligence and a Severely Injured Motorcyclist

One evening in March, 42-year-old Todd Johnson was enjoying a ride on his Harley Davidson in Derby, CT. Suddenly and without warning the defendant, Mileena Alvarez, carelessly veered her motor vehicle into Johnson’s lane of travel, violently striking him and ejecting him off his motorcycle onto the pavement. Todd unfortunately suffered numerous traumatic injuries that required multiple hospitalizations. In addition to bodily injuries, Todd sustained significant lost wages and incurred medical bills.
