  • Aggressive Dog Bites Child

    Russo v. Roberge (Ansonia-Milford Superior Court—filed January 21, 2020) Olivia Russo, a minor child residing in Shelton, CT, was attacked and bitten by a dog belonging to defendant Michael Roberge. The child sustained multiple puncture wounds and bites on her arm, requiring medical treatment and leaving significant scarring. In Connecticut, the owner of a dog is strictly liable for any bite unless the bite was due to the teasing or taunting of the alleged victim(s). There was no such evidence here.   • Child Suffers Multiple Dog Bites

    Peter Kacprzynski, et. al. v. Andre Czaplinski (Waterbury Superior Court—filed July 15, 2019) On February 10, 2019, a minor child visiting a residence in Shelton, CT with her father was attacked and bitten by an unsecured dog belonging to the defendants. The child sustained multiple puncture wounds and bites on her face and required surgical treatment. As a consequence of the attack, the child incurred painful injuries, some of which are permanent in nature, as well as significant medical bills.

    Juzwiakowski, Deborah v. Estes, et. al., (New Haven Superior Court—filed October 23, 2018)  In the Spring of 2018, our plaintiff was enjoying a jog on a public roadway in West Haven when she was suddenly and without warning chased down and bitten several times by a dog belonging to the defendants. As a result of the attack, the plaintiff required emergency medical care, hospitalization, and surgery and some of the injuries she sustained to her legs, arms, and hands are permanent.   • Minor Injured By Dog While Retrieving Ball in Neighbor’s Yard

    David Filley, et. al. v. David Young, M.D., (New Haven Superior Court—filed June 6, 2018) In August, 2017, a young child residing in Guilford, CT, was maimed by the neighbor’s dangerous dog while he attempted to retrieve a lacrosse ball from the physician/neighbor’s yard. The defendant, Dr. Young, should have known better than to keep a dangerous dog in proximity to children.  The minor suffered multiple penetrating wounds including defensive wounds on his upper arm as well as a puncture wound on his ankle.   • Dog Bite, UPS Worker Unable to Operate Trucks After Attack

    Dwyer v. Zink (Filed 2009 in New Haven) The plaintiff, a UPS driver, was attacked by an unleashed german shepherd mix while delivering a package. The bite caused damage to the plaintiff’s left ankle which makes it impossible for him to drive the standard shift trucks that UPS has in its fleet. Given his lack of education and training in any other area, the injury has devastated his earning capacity. Case Builder contains two helpful categories: cases we are working on now and our past results. Case Builder is a novel concept. Our web designer said we should have this information fixed in a web page. We disagreed—thinking that just like our practice is always changing the case builder should be an ever-changing description of where we are right now—not last month or a year ago.
