Our Story

Faxon Law Group represents plaintiffs who have suffered personal injury and loss in the most catastrophic ways. We don’t take just any case—rather we are deeply committed to taking on the most difficult and serious personal injury and malpractice cases in Connecticut and bringing them before juries.

How we think

The average person needs to know that without hard-working, traditional trial lawyers, it would simply be a world of might makes right. At Faxon Law Group, we are driven by a philosophy of doing the right things for the right reasons—meaning, we like to select cases that supply a necessary purpose to what we do.

If you make a mess, it’s your responsibility to clean it up.

From an early age, parents and teachers impress this upon us. As youth, we may find the lesson rather tedious, but with maturity, we begin to understand that accountability is the very basis of healthy communities. Others must also practice accountability for us to truly be able to protect our families and enjoy the fruits of our labors. However, there are always those who reject this basic rule and refuse to be held responsible for their mistakes. At Faxon Law Group we strive to uphold and protect the principle of accountability—for the sake of our clients and our communities.

The best plaintiff’s trial lawyers remind wrongdoers and juries that accountability is simply an extension of the first lesson of fairness taught by our parents and teachers. Justice is not only important for the person who is wronged, it is also a reassertion that personal responsibility is critical for a healthy community.

Of course, not every perceived wrong is worthy of litigation – we get that. Sometimes the injury is so insignificant that an apology is all that is needed. Faxon Law Group holds to what another hard-working trial lawyer, Abraham Lincoln, once said, “Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise where you can. Point out to them that the nominal winner is often the real loser in fees, expenses and waste of time. As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity to be a good person. There will still be business enough.”

We believe our purpose is for those who have suffered serious and unjust harm at the hands of parties who refuse to accept this fundamental responsibility. We will seek not a penny more, nor a penny less, for what redresses this harm. At the end of the day, we work so that our clients will feel that the wrong has been remedied and life can go on. We know that this can only be accomplished with the highest integrity, proven advocacy skills, a forward-thinking mindset and an honest approach to case presentation.

Faxon Law Group (formerly Stratton Faxon) is led by founder Joel Faxon, Eric P. Smith and Timothy Pothin, all of whom were members of the Stratton Faxon firm, and are recognized as leaders in excellence in the trial of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
