Medical Malpractice, Failure to Recognize Obvious Signs of Fetal Distress Leading to Cerebral Palsy

Chieffalo v. Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, et al., Filed 2008 in Stamford. The defendant’s obstetricians failed to observe obvious signs of oxygen deprivation to the plaintiff’s baby in utero. The fetal monitoring strips showed decelerations of the baby’s heart rate in utero and difficulty in recovering after contractions. This according to two board certified obstetricians who work in highly respected teaching hospitals is a clear sign that the baby needs to be delivered immediately by C-Section.
